Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish was today eager to play down the fans' expectation levels after the club's impressive start to the new Premier League season.

The manager was given a warm welcome by home fans on his Villa Park debut and the players delivered on the pitch after cruising to a comfortable 3-1 victory over Blackburn.

But the Villa boss is refusing to get carried away with the start as he is aware of the challenges which lie ahead.

McLeish said: "I'm not shouting from the rooftops, saying we are going to do this and do that.

"We have made some good progress in the first two games of the Premier League in what will be a very tough season for everybody.

"The challenge is ahead of us and is something that we all relish in this game and we are privileged to be a part of it.

"There's nothing like winning football matches and seeing some good performances to build confidence.

"I think success and winning breeds confidence and that will surely we can encourage the fans to fill the stadium. I'm sure that at this club a lot of the games will be full capacity.

"You can't expect them to fill the stadium every single week, but it will definitely happen at times."
