Charles N’Zogbia set on Villa move

Charles N’Zogbia has revealed he had his heart set on a move to Villa as soon as the claret and blues declared their interest in him.

Villa confirmed last night that they have agreed a fee with Wigan – believed to be £9.5million – for the Latics winger who will agree personal terms and undergo a medical within the next three days.

And the 25-year-old Frenchman, who will put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the club, insisted that he was only ever going to join Villa.

He told the French press: “The move is not made yet. I must agree on the terms of the contract.

“Liverpool or Arsenal could have positioned themselves but I would still go to Villa – it has been two to three weeks and the club has done everything to have me.”

The Express & Star also understands that McLeish had even begun to make enquiries about Wolves winger Matt Jarvis, as frustration grew over negotiations on the fee for N’Zogbia.

Too expensive at 9.5 million could get a lot better for that. Wigan must be rubbing their hands together and smiling
