Hey Charlie, was this not the guy who had Birmingham relegated after spending £40 million, alright he fluked a Carling Cup but at the cost of going down into the Championship, If you are going to hire this clown you’d be aswell taking Martin O’Neill back after all it was Randy who failed to back the best manager that Villa ever had and then foolishly threw money at Gerrard Houllier just to keep his team in the Premiership after Mr Houllier made such a mess of things, Ahhh Hello!!!!!!

Why does General Krulak feel he has the authority to criticise life long fans!

It is clear that Alex Mcleish would be the worst move yet by a Villa board who clearly have a lack of understanding when it comes to football.

We would not only be disgusted by the fact he previously managed our arch rivals, he has actually had an awful season. Why on earth would you pursue a manager who’s team didn’t have one of the 3 worst squads in the league but were still relegated.

This guy also managed the Birmingham side we thumped 5 – 0 !

Martin O’Neill wasn’t appointed by these guys and Gerard Houllier was a disaster waiting to happen from the very start.

These guys really don’t have a clue and I will seriously consider turning my back on Villa unless they sort this out ASAP.

I can also guarantee the vast majority will not be renewing our season tickets.

Appoint this man at your peril Randy and Krulak!!!

Rijkaard or Owen Coyle on the other hand are realistic targets I would be more than happy with!

Can’t speak for others, but it really has nothing to do with his history with the Blues for me. McLeish is a rubbish manager. End of story. You can’t tell me he’s the best Villa can do.

mr krulak i am a lifelong season ticket holder at villa park. How dare you tell me what is good for me, just exactly how long have you been associated with aston villa and just exactly how much do you know about our club.

What i earn is a pittance but i put my money into this famous club year after year, only to have people like you discredit my opinion.

I have lost faith in the ownership of aston villa they have made us a laughing stock with this bungled manager appointment. Mr lerner obviously has little footballing knowledge to even think about appointing mr mcleish the most defensive manager in the country.

Mr lerner stated himself that the club did not want the same problems as we had last summer when martin oneill left the club, but what is happening now is just as prolonged. Surely he must have known about mr houlliers health problems before he actually left the club, any decent chairman would have had a plan in place, but mr lerner obviously has not. Its a disgrace the way things have been and you and the board should be ashamed of the way you are dealing with the issues. Owners and chairman and managers come and go but my club will always be there long after you have gone, so please do not come onto message boards and try to defend mr lerners or your inadequate bungling treatment of aston villa, if mr lerner cannot give aston villa supporters gurantee’s that he really has this club at heart then please advise him to sell the club and take himself and you back to the land of the free usa.

The general krulak comments just show how out of touch he is with football. Doug ellis appointed martin o,neill not Randy. Since he left, the club has become a shambles. Our ambitions have been destroyed in just 12months.Our crown jewels such as milner, young, gone. OTHERS wanting out,fighting relegation and now we want mangers who are no better than championship football. Perhaps thats WHERE WE ARE DESTINED TO BE???? And then to rub salt into our wounds,we are even considering our arch rivals manager who got them RELEGATED. AMBITION, WHAT AMBITION. Even blues fans are laughing at us and they got relegated!! when i saw mcleish name mentioned for villa job i thought it was a joke. i cant believe that they would be daft enough to go for him it isnt about him being the blues manager he is just rubbish us villa fans deserve better than that. sort it out randy or you will find out what an half empty villa park looks like

Get McLeish in,

Best man for the job, get rid of Young and Downing and let Alex get his own men in.

Look at the success of his signings down the road, he’s been excellent in that sense, Zigic is better than Bent any day of the week, Ferguson and Bowyer 10x better than Petrov and Re-Coker and don’t even mention Richard Dunne in the same breath as Roger Johnson.

My first choice admittedly was Hodgson but I understand he doesn’t want to make a backwards step so lets get big Eck in!

Big Eck is the best we can do at the end of the day. We just about managed to stay in this league last season and we are linking ourselves with big name managers. Most so called Villa fans need a wake up call. We was a big club 20 years ago but all that has changed and we are now like the Wigans, Boltons & Blackburns of this league. Big Eck will prove all doubters wrong. He done a good job relegating the Blues but he has always wanted to come to Villa. I think Krulak speaks sense. We are becoming a joke of a club now and I say we all gather on the steps at Villa Park and sing songs loud and proud like that wonderful day a few weeks back. I for one will be wearing my Villa kit including the socks after i finish work. I just wished the Club shop would stock gloves that fit my fingers…

Completely agree Jim. What we need is a revamp and McLeish is absolutely the man to take us forward. People criticise McLeish because of the lack of attacking initiative Birmingham had, but lets not forget he did bring Zigic in. Also Marlon King apparently only came to Birmingham because of McLeish so if we’re shrewd enough we might be able to get him in – as well as maybe Cameron Jerome although he might be expensive.

Im not sure why some people are so negative about this, we’d do really well to get someone of McLeish’s calibre in – Martinez was always slightly unrealistic.

I agree with some comments on here, Lerner has backed the club, we have been to wembley twice and had 3 back to back 6th place finishes! But mcleish really! Apart from the fact he won the league cup he’s done nothing! People coming on here saying he brought well, zigic is utterly pants how many goals did he get? Bent on the other hand scored more in half a season at the villa! What was it the board came up with when they came in, proud history bright future, can’t see it happening with mcleish, I do back the board (well Lerner) but please sort this mess out before you do get us relegated next year. I’ll always support the villa but I wont b renewing my season ticket to watch the utter crap that was played out last season. The only way forward now is get a manager in that has some buying power, we lost frediel Coker Carew warnock if he goes walker gone back oh and young maybe downing. The squad needs at least £40m spent on it. Is this board the one to carry on taking us forward? I’m not sure!
