Villa set to make manager decision
Thursday 26th May 2011, 9:51AM BST.
Villa owner Randy Lerner’s right-hand man has revealed a decision on whether Gerard Houllier will return as manager will be made imminently.
The club’s non-executive director General Charles Krulak gave no firm indication as to whether Houllier will remain in charge but it is expected an announcement will be made next week.
The feedback on Houllier’s recovery from heart problems has generally been positive and the 63-year-old Frenchman is playing a role in Villa’s preparations for next season.
American owner Lerner and Faulkner will meet with Houllier to discuss his future but Krulak insisted the club must take their lead from medical advice.
He said: “There are key questions and I believe all will be answered shortly. Obviously it is not good for anyone involved to have these issues drawn out. The manager decision will be made in a timely manner.
“Of course we need to hear what the doctors have to say. Our concerns are obviously over the health of our manager and his health is something we should all be concerned about.”
