Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Villa handed a treble fitness boost
Wednesday 4th May 2011, 11:00AM BST.
Villa were today handed a treble fitness boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Wigan at the weekend.
Striker Emile Heskey and midfielder Jean Makoun missed the defeat at Albion with minor injuries, while defender Richard Dunne limped out of the game at the Hawthorns with an injury to his posterior.
But assistant manager Gary McAllister confirmed that the trio are all likely to be back in contention to face the Latics at Villa Park on Saturday.
McAllister said: “Both Richard and Emile trained with the team today, so they are fine and better.
“Emile had a bit of swelling with his knee. It was stiff in and around his knee joint so, rather than risk, he was completely left out against Albion while Richard took a blow on his backside. It’s like a dead leg.
“Jean got a knock on his thigh. We felt it was settling but it was a wee bit sore so we left him out as well.
“He worked with the physio today and we’ll know more about him on Thursday or Friday, but there is every chance he will be available for the game against Wigan also.”
Meanwhile, England under-21 coach Stuart Pearce has named Villa trio Marc Albrighton, Nathan Delfouneso and Kyle Walker in his provisional squad for the European Championships in Denmark this summer.
And on-loan Tottenham defender Walker, who has been in the full senior squad, is looking forward to the experience of playing in a major tournament.
He said: “It’s putting on the England shirt once again – it’s an honour. I’m sure most people my age would want to go to the European under-21 championships to face everyone.
“It’s going to be a good experience and hopefully we can go there and bring something back.
“I’m honoured really to be even in the same room as some of those players after just my first full season.
“Hopefully, I can keep going on with that and then hopefully go on to get my first full cap.”
