Worries growing for Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier
Monday 25th April 2011, 11:29AM BST.
Gary McAllister today insisted it is “business as usual” at Aston Villa despite the ongoing uncertainty concerning the future of manager Gerard Houllier.
The Villa boss is still in hospital after he was admitted last week suffering from chest pains and there is growing doubt over whether he will ever be well enough to return to the dug-out.
Speculation over Houllier’s future was further increased last night when Lerner’s right-hand man General Charles Krulak posted on internet message board Villa Talk and described Houllier’s situation as “serious”.
Houllier has since been visited by owner Randy Lerner and is described by a club official as being “comfortable” in Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital but it is understood no formal discussions about the Frenchman’s future have taken place.
“At this moment he has to be guided solely by specialists,” said McAllister.
“I’ve no idea how long he’ll be in there. They’re obviously taking all the stats, frequently.
“My brief is just to carry on until I’m told otherwise. It’s business as usual.
“The fact is I’m a professional man. I know my job. And when the manager’s not here, I’m the No.2.
“The big thing is that I trust Gerard completely and he trusts me.
“But now I’m looking forward to Albion on Saturday.
“It is a big game and I’m relishing going in against Roy Hodgson, who I like but want to get one over on.”

What a strange two weeks it has been since our last game. I haven’t looked over my neighbour’s fence with as much interest since Pamela Anderson moved in next door and regularly used her trampoline, writes Albion blogger Jarrod Hill.

Let’s all wish him a speedy recovery and I would suggest they find him a job in an advisory capacity if he can’t bear to give up football.
One wish would be that those who’ve helped load on pressure on radio phone-ins, etc., realise that in spite of the money, these people are humans and can suffer Hell.
