Fabian Delph wants Villa midfield run

Fabian Delph wants a run in the Villa midfield after his comeback against Spurs.
The 21-year-old suffered a cruciate ligament injury in April but has battled back to feature for Villa well ahead of schedule.
And Delph is now keen to get more games under his belt and regain his match sharpness.
“I feel brilliant — my knee feels fine. Every other day I’m doing leg weights, so I’m keeping on top of everything,” said Delph. “I’ve had seven or eight training sessions — I would have liked to have more but we felt I could play.
“I’m not as sharp as I’d like to be but that should come with games. Looking forward, hopefully I can get a few more games in and get a bit sharper.
“It’s all about improving and adding to my game and with the management team I think they can help me to do that.”
Delph also hailed the efforts of the Villa medical staff and the support he has received from family and friends over what has been a tough period for him on the sidelines.
“The physio I have worked with has been unbelievable for me,” added Delph.
“He has been there for me every day since I did the initial injury. For me and him it’s pleasing and for my family it’s rewarding.
“I’ve learnt a lot about myself but my family have been there and they have kept me going.”
Manager Gerard Houllier believes the return of the midfielder will be like a new signing.
He said: “There are a few positive things to come out of the Spurs result and one of those is that Fabian Delph is back with us.
“One signing in January definitely is Fabian because I think he will be an important player for us.”
