James Collins plots United revenge
Defender James Collins has vowed Villa will be out to avenge their Carling Cup final defeat to Manchester United when the sides clash.
Defender James Collins has vowed Villa will be out to avenge their Carling Cup final defeat to Manchester United when the sides clash.
United came from behind to beat Villa 2-1 at Wembley in February but the game was surrounded in controversy after referee Phil Dowd failed to send off Nemanja Vidic for a professional foul early on.
Tomorrow's early kick-off will be the first time the sides have met since and, when asked if Villa would be out for revenge, Collins confirmed it's personal.
He said: "I think so. It was a day when we wanted to do well and were disappointed. But it is a completely different situation now playing in the league where we need points.
"Everyone is looking forward to it. We have to go into the game thinking we can win.
"There is no point thinking any different but it is going to be tough."
Collins 89th-minute winner against Blackpool on Wednesday handed Villa their first win in six and moved them back into the top half of the table.
He said: "It was massive. We knew before the game it was. Everyone could see we weren't at our best on Wednesday.
"I think some nerves crept in knowing we had to win the game.
"It is a good sign we didn't play very well and we won."
