Derby is a must-win for Habib Beye
Friday 29th October 2010, 9:15AM BST.
Villa defender Habib Beye has labelled Sunday’s Second City high-noon showdown against Birmingham as a “must-win” game.
Beye and Co welcome Blues to Villa Park in what will be the first taste of competitive action in the derby for the Senegal international.
The 33-year-old was an unused substitute for both games last season but has experienced similar pressure before, playing for Newcastle against Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby.
It’s a new game but a similar feeling of excitement for Beye, who believes Villa cannot afford to lose.
He said: “It’s really good to play in these kind of big games. I played in them for Newcastle against Sunderland and that’s a big derby as well.
“It’s a must-win game for us. For the fans it’s really important. We all know what it means to the fans.
“You just have to be ready and do your best.”
