Aaron Rai’s in the money after Qatar Masters finish

Wolverhampton’s Aaron Rai collected the biggest pay-cheque of his European Tour season after tying for 19th place in golf’s Qatar Masters.

The Perton-based 22-year-old collected almost £14,000 for after finishing on 11 under par in Doha. He had been tied for the lead after the first round after a stunning 65 on the opening 18 holes. However, scores of 73, 69 and yesterday’s 70 saw him fall back into the field.

England’s Eddie Pepperell won the tournament with a final score of 18 under par and collected a winner’s cheque for around £200,000. Staffordshire’s Robert Rock failed to make the cut on Friday.
