Ex-Wolves and Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott reportedly training with Sunderland

Former Wolves, West Brom and Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott is reportedly training with Sunderland.

Lescott, 34, has his ties with Sunderland boss David Moyes from his time at Everton, and is free to join a team after having his contract with AEK Athens terminated earlier on this season.

Bearing the brunt of Villa fans' complaints during their relegation season, Lescott was slammed for below-par peformances and infamous off-field issues.

He most notably tweeted a picture of a Mercedes after Villa were thrashed by Liverpool, claiming that he accidentally tweeted the picture from his pocket.

Sunderland aren't thought to have significant funds this month, meaning Moyes is being restricted to free agent and loan signings to help his squad fight relegation.

If the ex-England international impresses, Moyes may be tempted to sign him permanently.

Lescott made over 100 appearances under at Everton, and over 250 during his cumulative time with Wolves, West Brom and Aston Villa.
