Golden chance to see magic Mo Farah in Birmingham

Two-time double Olympic and world champion Mo Farah has confirmed he is competing in the Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham in February.

It may be one of the last chances to see the 33-year-old on a West Midlands track because Farah has hinted that the IAAF World Championships in London next August could be his last track event before he focuses on road racing.

The last time he raced at the event was in 2015, when he broke the indoor world record over two miles.

"I'm looking forward to returning to a city where I've had so much success," said Farah. "The crowds in Birmingham are always fantastic and I have many special memories of competing here. The event will be a key part of my preparations as I look towards the World Championships in London later in the year."

The National Indoor Arena has become the home of indoor athletics in the UK, and is also hosting the World Indoor Championships in 2018.

"It's an enclosed atmosphere," said Coventry's former 5,000m world record holder David Moorcroft. "It's quite gladiatorial, it's like the Coliseum, you're close to the performers. When Mo is churning round in circles the crowd get louder and louder."

Farah is running on Saturday, February 18.
