Albion are planning to offer new contracts to experienced midfield pair Chris Brunt and Darren Fletcher in the new year.

Brunt's existing deal is up in the summer and Fletcher's contract is expiring too, although the club do have a 12-month option on the captain's current deal.

However, the reliable 32-year-old skipper is expected to be offered a new and improved contract when talks begin after the busy festive period.

Fletcher has started every single Premier League game since he joined the club on a free transfer from Manchester United on February 3, 2015.

Although he began this season out of sorts by his own admission, he has since rediscovered his form, and last month he scored his first goal of the campaign in the 4-0 rout of Burnley.

Fletcher has proved himself as one of the club's most reliable players over the best part of two years, and Albion are keen to tie the Scotland captain down to another deal.

Hailing Fletcher's impact, Pulis said: "If you have a look at the top players we've got at this club and the way they look after themselves and prepare, not just for games but for training, is fantastic.

"I put Fletcher up there as one of the best pros I've worked with and he is a great example to younger players on how you should lead your life, especially in a sporting way.

"He is a fantastic role model and the young kids, if they're going to look and take anything out of Darren, it's the way he runs his life."

Brunt's return from a long-term knee injury has been one of the catalysts for Albion's recent run of red-hot form that has seen them pick up 10 points from a possible 12.

The 31-year-old Northern Irishman scored his first goal since May 2015 in the 3-1 win over Watford at the weekend and also laid on an assist from a corner for Jonny Evans's header.

Although he has spent the majority of his time under Pulis as a left-back, he has been in sparkling form on the wing this season now that summer signing Allan Nyom has plugged the gap at full-back.
