Gary Hackett: Stourbridge heading into biggest FA Cup game to date

Stourbridge boss Gary Hackett reckons Sunday's showdown with Northampton Town will be the club's biggest-ever FA Cup date.

The Glassboys have been no strangers to cup success over recent seasons, reaching the second round in four of the last six seasons and beating higher-ranked opponents on five occasions, including a famous 2011 victory over Plymouth Argyle.

Yet Hackett believes the visit of the League One Cobblers to the War Memorial Ground surpasses all that has come before as Stour look to reach the third round for the first time in their history.

"I think this is the biggest game we have played in the cup," said Hackett. "That is not meant as any disrespect to Stevenage, who we have played twice at this stage before.

"But they were a club with a recent non-league past whereas Northampton are a long established Football League club.

"This just feels like a bigger occasion."

Hackett's feelings appear to be matched by supporters who snapped up tickets in double-quick time to ensure the tie, which kicks off at 2pm, will be a 2,500 sell-out.
