Wolves face Belle Vue Aces in Manchester in the second leg of the Elite League Play-Off Final tonight with a massive 18-point advantage after Monday's stunning first-leg success.

If they emerge victorious, it will be the team's greatest victory since last winning the Elite League title when they beat Swindon back in 2009.

And long-serving Wolverhampton owner Chris Van Straaten says his side are in with a great shout of being crowned champions once again.

It's a different story after some barren seasons in recent times with fans disillusioned – but they've flocked back in big numbers and hundreds are expected to travel up the M6 tonight.

"It's been a tough couple of years but for this side to turn things around how they have done deserves a lot of credit," said Van Straaten.

"They never know when they're beaten and the fighting spirit and determination they have shown has been quite remarkable.

"To overcome Poole was an unbelievable effort but to carry that over to the first leg against Belle Vue really was quite impressive.

"They showed how much they wanted that Elite League title and they put themselves in with a great shout by gaining an 18-point lead.

"We won't be taking anything for granted of course, there is still a job to be done but it's in our hands."

World champion Tai Woffinden, who has been brought in to bolster Wolves' hopes for the latter stages of the Elite League season, said: "I'm really pleased to have come in and played some part in getting us to the final, it means a lot and the fans have been great."

But Woffinden is taking nothing for granted ahead of the date with destiny tonight at the National Speedway Stadium.

"We're in the final but the job is only half done," he said.

"It's advantage to us."
