Martin Adams will take his place in the PDC's Grand Slam of Darts at Wolverhampton Civic Hall next month - despite still suffering with prostate cancer.

The three-time BDO world champion was diagnosed in April and has completed a course of radiotherapy. He's now waiting for his next appointment with his consultant in November.

'Wolfie' has missed some tournaments, as a result of being unwell, but did compete in the British Classic two weeks ago.

The veteran thrower made his Grand Slam debut last year and won over the Civic crowd, despite being a staunch BDO loyalist and, at times, a PDC critic.

The PDC tweeted on Friday their well-wishes for his recovery and he has subsequently confirmed to them he will again play under their banner.

Adams himself tweeted: "Good news. I have been advised that I will be playing in the GSOD. Thanks go to the BDO & PDC for the opportunity."

The only PDC tournament to formally invite players from the BDO again takes place for a ninth year at the Civic, from November 12-20.

Adams made the cut through his ranking of No 5 with the BDO, who have one place in each of the four-man eight groups for their qualifiers.

The final field for the competition will be determined on Monday October 24, after a qualifier for the remaining PDC places is held at the Barnsley Metrodome the previous day.

Tickets for the eight-day event are on sale now, by calling the Civic Box Office on 0870 320 7000 or online via www.theticketfactory.com/pdc.
