We are not saying they are true – just that they are out there.

WOLVES

Wolves could face up to three rivals, including Dutch outfit Sparta Rotterdam, should they try and bring in Southend United midfielder Jack Payne.

The 21-year-old looks set to leave Roots Hall in the summer, although the Shrimpers will be entitled to a compensation fee despite him being out-of-contract.

Two other Championship sides, Ipswich Town and Huddersfield, are keen on the diminutive 5ft 5in attacker, who was on Tottenham's books as a schoolboy.

WEST BROM

West Brom boss Tony Pulis' presence at former club Stoke City's game with Sunderland has sparked talk he's about to raid the Britannia Stadium for signings.

Veteran striker Peter Crouch, 35, and 30-year-old midfielder Charlie Adam are two players who worked under Pulis in the Potteries and could be made available.

Crouch would command a small fee, as he's under contract until 2017 while Adam also another season on his deal. Both are big earners and not regulars, though.

ASTON VILLA

Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout could be handed a surprise chance to stay in the Premier League through a move to Bournemouth.

The Cherries are apparently interested in the 23-year-old Frenchman, who has featured internationally for his country up to under-21 level.

Veretout has been a bit-part player for Villa since a £2million move from Nantes in his homeland last July and is expected to leave the club.

WALSALL

All quiet at the Banks's Stadium today.
