We are not saying they are true – just that they are out there.

WOLVES

Wolves striker Benik Afobe could be the subject of a shock club transfer-record offer from Championship rivals Derby County this month.

The Rams are pushing for automatic promotion to the Premier League and believe Afobe can provide the goals that will fire them to glory.

Derby paid £6million in September to lure Bradley Johnson from Norwich City who, ironically, had a £10m bid for Afobe rejected the previous month.

Paul Clement's side would have to double that figure and go to £12m for the 22-year-old, which the still-interested Canaries could match.

WEST BROM

West Brom are one of three Premier League clubs keen on bringing French defender Romain Thomas to England from Angers in his homeland.

The 27-year-old has played an important part in Angers' rise to the top-flight and their surge to third, where they currently occupy, this season.

January offers are now expected, according to sources in France, with Albion joining Crystal Palace and Stoke City in the race for his services.

ASTON VILLA

Aston Villa could turn to Senegal attacker Oumar Niasse as they desperately search for players who can start a fight against relegation.

Villa are 11 points from safety in the Premier League and are sinking fast towards the drop, with a clear out of players expected this month.

Manager Remi Garde is looking at 25-year-old Niasse, who plays for Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia. He would cost around the £5million mark.

WALSALL

All quiet at the Banks's Stadium today.
