Dave Hockaday handed help by the owner

Kidderminster Harriers owner Colin Gordon will play a new role in helping boss Dave Hockaday on the training pitch – and insists Hockaday is grateful of the decision.

Harriers visit table-topping Cheltenham Town tomorrow, after a narrow 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture on Boxing Day – their 30th defeat of 2015.

After taking more of a backseat recently to focus on the business aspect of the club, Gordon revealed it was a good time to lend a hand to the team struggling at the bottom of the table.

Gordon said: "Dave absolutely welcomed the decision for some help.

"We've got a big number of playing staff here and many of the management team are part-time.

"So Dave has been having to deal with a lot.

"If I can help him out on the training pitch then that's why we do it."

Gordon, who was briefly in caretaker charge before Hockaday's employment, was pleased by youngsters Omari Patrick and Elton Ngwatala, who both featured against Cheltenham and Forest Green.

"We can't afford big guns so we have to use the contacts we have," Gordon said. "They're good players with great futures."

Harriers welcome back midfielder Dino Fazlic from a three-game suspension, but lose Matt Young after his red card last Monday.
