We are not saying they are true – just that they are out there.

WOLVES

Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme was a loan target for tomorrow night's visitors Leeds United earlier in the season, it has emerged.

The Championship rivals made an approach just after Steve Evans was appointed Leeds boss, but were rebuffed in their efforts.

Ross Turnbull's long-term ankle injury had left Evans with the inconsistent Marco Silvestri and the untested Charlie Horton.

Leeds also asked about West Brom's second-choice custodian Anders Lindegaard, just two months after he joined from Manchester United.

But Silvestri is now back in form, with highly-rated teenager Bailey Peacock-Farrell acting as back-up after Horton left for personal reasons.

Ikeme has regained his place, too, with Arsenal loanee Emiliano Martinez out with a thigh injury. The two will again battle for the jersey from January.

WEST BROM

West Brom could make a sensational move for Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor - if Baggies forward Saido Berahino leaves the Hawthorns.

Berahino has fallen out-of-favour with boss Tony Pulis and is desperate to resurrect a move to Tottenham, or go elsewhere, in the January transfer window.

Albion are more open to selling him now than they were in August, but they will need a replacement to fill a big gap in their squad.

Agbonlahor, 29, would bring a wealth of Premier League experience if he were to move across the West Midlands, although he would command a fee and £50,000-a-week wages.

The club's longest-serving player appears to be getting pushed out of Villa, too, but is keen to remain in Birmingham with Albion the closest top-flight team in proximity.

Pulis does want a reliable performer to take some of the pressure off record-signing Salomon Rondon with Berahino, the ageing Rickie Lambert and the injury-prone Victor Anichebe his other options.

ASTON VILLA

Aston Villa are hoping to make Italy international Salvatore Sirigu their last line of defence in a revamp of their squad for a relegation fight.

Sirigu, 28, is determined to get out of French giants Paris Saint-Germain with his chances of making the Italy squad for Euro 2016 in doubt.

Kevin Trapp's arrival has seen him drop to the bench and first-team football, along with being busy between the sticks, would appeal to him.

Villa chief Remi Garde knows what the shot-stopper can do, from his three years in charge of Lyon at the same level, and may use his contacts to see if a loan move is possible.

WALSALL

All quiet at the Banks's Stadium today.
