Charlie Austin deal looks unlikely for Villa or Albion

Villa and Albion look set to have their hopes of signing Charlie Austin dashed after the QPR striker ruled out joining a struggling Premier League club in the January transfer window.

The striker had been attracting interest from the West Midlands rivals with Villa rumoured to be stepping up their interest in the past week.

However, the 26-year-old is understood to be reluctant to become embroiled in another relegation fight.

He said: "I can't see myself leaving in January, because I'm concentrating on playing for QPR.

"I think I owe it them and my loyalty is with them, to help them and get promoted.

"Football is a small career and you have to make the right decisions, the right moves."
