It's a fair cop as the Police hit form to stun champs

Reigning Premier Division champions Norton Social A were the victims of a daring raid as they crashed 4-1 to West Midlands Police.

Andy Smith was the star of the show for the Police, rolling in an 86 break to beat his previous seasonal high of 82.

Gavin Sloan, Maria Catalano and Kev Franklin (45) were the other Police winners.

Rob Pitt's frame was sufficient to ensure Norton held on to a share of the lead at the top of the table, along with the Police and Amblecote Inst A, who took all five frames at home to Baggeridge Social.

Dave Oakes, with a break of 50, Rick Wooldridge, (36), Andy Round, Mike Richards and Ashley Sidaway all won for Amblecote.

Hotshots SC A put their championship challenge back on track with a 4-1 win against their B team.

Roy Stokes, (41), Dave Green, Luke Higginbotham and Milan Krstanovic all won convincingly after Paul Caldeira, with the aid of a 39 break, had given the B team a great start against Neil Beckley.

Richard Brookes took the deciding frame to clinch a 3-2 win for Moor Pool & Snooker A on the tables of Pockets SC B.

Paul Dunkey (31) and Warren Fenney had won earlier for Moor P & S withTony Kidd and Lee Page claiming Pockets' frames.

Kingswinford Cons A held on to their single-point lead at the top of the First Division, with a 3-2 win at home to Kinver Const C.

Gary Male, on the black, Tim Carter and John Cowan just did enough, with Steve Nicholls and the highly-consistent Adam Sprague replying.

Dean Banks, Paul Churchman and Keith Rollinson combined to maintain Kinver Const B's challenge at the expense of their A team, 3-2.

Norman Jennings and Robin Hall were on the mark for the A team.

Moor Pool & Snooker B eased into third place, but had to do it the hard way after falling 2-0 behind at Wombourne.

Mark Bastable and Stuart Taylor gave the hosts a perfect start, but Ian Priest and Paul Taylor levelled the scores before Lee Whitehouse's 43 break gave him a sound enough start to withstand the spirited comeback from Dave Flavell.

Strangely, Moor Pool & Snooker's C team went 2-0 up through Rob Sidawayand Steve Norton at home to Stourbridge Inst B, only for Nick Aston, Simon Tyler and Harry Jones to turn the match around.

Amblecote RBL B's grip on the Second Division title race slackened when they lost against their A team.

Sam Ball and Jack Ball won for the B side, but Barry Young, Richard Skelding and Paul Goldrick saw the A boys home.

Stourbridge Old Edwardians beat Amblecote Inst C 4-1 to move into second place.

Stewart Barclay, Harry Hall (35) Dave Woodall and Chris Cowley, who has yet to taste defeat this season, combined to see Old Eds home.
