We are not saying they are true – just that they are out there.

WOLVES-ASTON VILLA

Wolves could face another competitor in the race to sign striker Benik Afobe, with Aston Villa emerging alongside Norwich City as an interested party.

The Canaries made three bids for the 22-year-old in August, the last for £10million which would have netted the player £40,000-a-week.

Their scouts again ran the rule over Afobe in the 3-0 win at Fulham last week, making it clear they are planning another offer.

But Villa are now also keeping tabs on the England Under-21 international and have the financial clout to match their advances.

WEST BROM

West Brom will step up their chase for Blackburn Rovers utility man Jason Lowe in the January transfer window, but left-back is also a priority.

Rovers want Lowe, who can operate in midfield or at right-back, to stay at Ewood Park but a £5million fee could lift their transfer embargo.

Boss Tony Pulis is as much considered about the other flank, where Liverpool outcast Jose Enrique has been considered as a target.

WALSALL

Walsall manager Dean Smith is under consideration to be the new boss of Championship side Rotherham United, some rumours suggest.

The Millers have definitely looked at League One for their next man in charge, with moves for Gillingham's Justin Edinburgh and Burton Albion's Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink both unsuccessful.

Should they fail in enticing Smith, out-of-work trio Nigel Clough, Neil Redfearn and Stuart Gray could come into the running.
