Sporting Khalsa 4 Wellington 0

A first-half hat trick from Craig Bannister secured Khalsa's passage into the next round of the FA Vase.

Lashing home from close range after four minutes to open the scoring, Bannister then grabbed his second on 18 minutes after a Lee Wherton long ball gave him the time and space to dash forward and finish in style past keeper Chris Manchi.

Then with just seconds of the first half to go, a rampaging run by Simeon Townsend led to a cross which Bannister tucked away in style at the far post to take his tally to 19 for the season.

Only two superb last-ditch challenges by Wellington's Ben Thomas denied Bannister easy finishes, while Marvin Nisbett hit the woodwork and had efforts cleared off the line.

On 64 minutes, a brilliant run down the left by Michael Nelson ended with a cross to fellow substitute Townsend whose snap-shot flew narrowly high and wide. Dave Meese volleyed in the fourth on 84 minutes from a Tim Jackson corner.

Khalsa travel to face Quorn in the Midland Football League Premier tomorrow and then face the biggest game in their history when they host Spalding in the FA Cup on Saturday.
