We are not saying they are true – just that they are out there.

WOLVES

Wolves may yet have to slug it out with Championship rivals Huddersfield Town over the signature of free agent striker Shola Ameobi.

The 33-year-old joined up with Wolves today for training, with boss Kenny Jackett rating it as a 'look and see' for both the club and the player.

The veteran forward, who made 300 appearances for first club Newcastle United, has also trained with Huddersfield and played for them in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

The Terriers are still interested in Ameobi, too, and may make him an offer whatever the outcome of his trial period with Wolves.

WEST BROM

West Brom have the likes of Blackburn Rovers utility man Jason Lowe in mind as a target when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 24-year-old is a regular at Rovers, who rate him at £5million. The former England Under-21 international has two years left on his deal.

ASTON VILLA

Aston Villa have added Wycombe Wanderers goalkeeper Matt Ingram to the list of potential shot-stoppers they would like to bring in.

The 21-year-old has already made over 100 appearances for the Chairboys and kept 15 clean sheets for the League Two side last season.

Villa are seeking a long-term replacement for No 1 Brad Guzan, with only veteran Mark Bunn and out-on-loan Jed Steer to turn to.

WALSALL

All quiet at the Banks's Stadium today.
