Dan Ward, Simon Hickman and Andrew Highfield also won for Sedgley.

Hotshots SC have recruited superbly in the summer, by landing main tour pro Mark Joyce and Jamie Brown from rivals Brandhall Labour A.

And they kicked off in style with a 4-1 win against Brandhall's second string. Joyce, Luke Garland (58), Luke Higginbotham and Callum Downing (43) were their winners.

In Division Two, Bilston BC A are hoping to bounce back from last season's relegation but came unstuck as they went down 4-1 to Cannock Cons A.

Solid wins for Daniel Eaton-Lees, Andy Price, Andy Griffiths and Dave Coborn saw Cannock home.

Pennfields B are also looking for an immediate return to the top flight and got off to a solid start as Steph Adams, Terry Warr, Tony Poole and Les Edmunds earned them a 4-1 win over Fordhouses CC A.

Bilston BC B made a fine start in Division Three courtesy of a 4-1 win over Wednesfield Cons – Dave Smith, Stan Nicholls, Amo Sandhu and Gavin Richards were on the mark.

The first round of the Challenge Cup saw holders Stafford Institute A progress into the next round with an emphatic 251-aggregate point victory over Division Six outfit Bushbury Grid, having given their visitors a 189-point start.

Matt Hyden, Mark Bishop (38), Darren Pountney (41), Chris Ward and Rob Wharne (68) ensured a safe passage.

Shock of the round goes to Division Five outfit Golden Cue G who thrashed Division Two Fordhouses CC A at home after receiving a 77-point handicap.
