Shoota proud to join 400 club

Evergreen Stafford Rangers defender Wayne Daniel has revealed his immense pride at reaching the 400 games milestone for the Marston Road club.

The centre-half, who turns 39 in December, clocked up his 400th appearance as Boro beat the much-fancied Spalding United on the road last weekend.

Daniel said: "It's absolutely amazing and something I'm really really proud of.

"I'm just so honoured at playing this many games for such a big club like Stafford Rangers."

The Castle Vale-based Daniel, who works as a servicing manager for Birmingham Council, insists he cannot believe he has reached the milestone.

The defender, nicknamed Shoota, added: "I never thought I'd get there.

"At the end of last season I had seen that I was on 394 or something like that and to be honest it was a big factor in me carrying on this season.

"But another factor is Neil Kitching, Nick Amos and the rest of the staff.

"I've known Kitch for four years now and Nick even longer as he was a former team-mate.

"For four summers now Kitch has convinced me not to retire – even going back to when we were at Rushall Olympic.

"He knows just what to say to me!"

The defender first joined Stafford Rangers ahead of the 2003/04 season at the age of 26.

He began at Kidderminster Harriers but dropped out of the game for a number of years due to work commitments and was offered a route back in via Paget Rangers.

"I played against Stafford Town for Paget, impressed and I think that's how the move happened," he said.
