Dudley-based Milking Bank Primary School's under-11 girls returned home with the trophy after triumphing at the South West Regional Kwik Cricket Finals in Bristol.

Milking Bank won all four of their matches to win the tournament, which was held at Clifton College.

Asked what had been the key factor in his team's success, coach Matt Farmer said: "It has been down to their commitment.

"The dedication shown by the kids has been very impressive. They have trained at break times, at lunch times and they are always willing to learn and to do their best."

The competition, which featured 13 invited teams from all over the country, began with a series of qualifying group matches.

Milking Bank got their campaign off to the ideal start by winning both of their matches before defeating New Forest from Hampshire in the semi-finals.

The final came down to them against Willowbank from Somerset with Milking Bank then scoring a decisive victory.

Team captain Isabel Llabres-Diaz made 32 as Milking Bank scored 52-1 from their innings.

Miriam Mahmood took the first Willowbank wicket with the first ball of their opponents' innings, as they bowled out their opponents for just 37 to claim the trophy.

This latest success adds to a growing trophy collection for the school, which also won the Midlands title last year.
