Stafford teenager Will Davis had a first-class debut to remember after taking three wickets against Australia's Ashes squad, including that of skipper Michael Clarke.

As well as sending Clarke on his way for just 16 runs, Davis – who is from Acton Trussell – also dispatched Adam Voges and Peter Nevill to post bowling figures of 3-63. Australia closed day one on 413-9.

Opening batsmen David Warner and Shaun Marsh both retired after scoring centuries, with Shane Watson and Mitchell Marsh also making 50s on an entertaining first day at the County Ground.

Clarke, who was looking to play himself into form ahead of the third Ashes Test, became Davis' maiden first-class scalp as he edged the ball to Tom Knight at slip for 16.

The England Under-19s bowler then struck in his next over as Voges, another batsman in need of a score, was trapped lbw for just one run.

Former Stafford Grammar School pupil Davis then went on to snare wicketkeeper Nevill, again for a single run. Play, at the County Ground in Derby, was rained off today.

It wasn't such a successful day, though, for Wolverhampton cricketing star Georgia Elwiss, who was part of the England women's side who lost to Australia in the second Ashes One Day International.

The 24-year-old all-rounder, who scored the winning runs in the first ODI, was dismissed for just four as England were bowled out for 196 chasing 260 to win at Bristol.

Visiting skipper Meg Lanning compiled her sixth ODI hundred and then broke England's opening partnership with a fine run-out.

England captain Charlotte Edwards recorded her 46th ODI half-century in response, but the middle-order were unable to build on the work of their top three as they attempted the record run chase.
