WOLVES

Wolves are apparently one of a host of clubs, including Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic, looking to bring full-back Joan Oriol back to Britain.

Oriol left Blackpool in January, along with several players, and is a free agent after finishing his deal with Romanian outfit Rapid Bucharest.

The 28-year-old Spaniard is attracting attention north of the border and at Molineux, where Kenny Jackett's recruitment drive is gathering pace.

But Championship Wolves are in the box seat should he come to England with Barnsley, Wigan Athletic and Millwall all a division below in League One.

WEST BROM

West Brom and Premier League rivals Crystal Palace are ready to test Middlesbrough's resolve to keep hold of star defender George Friend.

They are reportedly preparing bids of around £4million in the former Wolves left-back, who excelled in the Championship last season.

But Boro will fight to keep hold of the 27-year-old, although the player himself may fancy a crack at the top-flight sooner rather than later.

ASTON VILLA

Aston Villa could possesses a trump card in their plans to bring in youngster Jordan Cousins from Championship side Charlton Athletic.

The 21-year-old has 12 months left on his current deal at the Valley, where he's been a regular since breaking into the first-team two years ago.

And selling him for a reasonable fee might the only choice available to the Addicks, with Newcastle United and Liverpool also interested.

However, Cousins' was under the stewardship in his early days at Charlton of Mark Robson, who is now first-team coach at Villa Park.

WALSALL

All quiet at the Banks's Stadium today.
