We are not saying they are true – just that they are out there.

WOLVES

Wolves are likely to up their attempts to land Cardiff City striker Joe Mason and Real Madrid defender Derik Osede as they get serious over their transfer targets.

It's thought Wolves actually bid less than the £1.5million that was reported as an opening offer for Mason, who Cardiff rate at £3million.

But Wolves boss Kenny Jackett is not giving up on the 24-year-old just yet and wants to see where going to £2million would leave the deal.

He's also keen to beat off interest from Nottingham Forest in rookie centre-back Osede, 22, who is out-of-contract with the Spanish giants.

WEST BROM

New Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren is ready to splash the cash to bring West Brom striker Saido Berahino to St James' Park.

The Baggies top scorer, who is courted by a host of Premier League clubs, is currently spending his summer with the England Under-21 squad.

McClaren has apparently been given a £40m transfer kitty and landing Berahino, who would cost £20m-plus, would appease Magpies fans.

Albion goalkeeper Boaz Myhill could receive two offers to leave the Hawthorns, too, with Championship sides Nottingham Forest and Reading keen.

The Wales international has one year remaining on his contract and and has made just 39 appearances in five years with the club.

Reading need a replacement for Adam Federici, who has joined Bournemouth, while Forest can't pay transfer fees with loanee No 1 Karl Darlow back at Newcastle United.

ASTON VILLA

Spanish midfielder Carles Gil could be heading home to rejoin a club in the Primera Liga - just five months after joining Aston Villa.

The 22-year-old was signed for £3.2million from Valencia by former manager Paul Lambert, who was sacked to make way for Tim Sherwood.

The playmaker doesn't appear to be in Sherwood's plans which has been duly noted by top-flight clubs Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Celta Vigo.

WALSALL

A hat-trick of Walsall spells for Emmanuel Ledesma? The talented Argentinian winger is available as a free agent again, after his release from Championship side Middlesbrough.

Saddlers boss Dean Smith has always been an admirer of the 27-year-old, despite him leaving the Banks's Stadium for greener grass twice.
