We are not saying they are true – just that they are out there.

WOLVES

Wolves have apparently had a £1.5million bid turned down by Championship rivals Cardiff City for striker Joe Mason.

The Bluebirds are willing to sell the 24-year-old but want £3million, as he has two years left on his contract at the Cardiff City Stadium.

A loan spell down the line could be another option, with the player having spent three spells with Bolton over the past two years.

But Wolves boss Kenny Jackett would much prefer a permanent deal and wants to team Mason up with Nouha Dicko and Benik Afobe.

WEST BROM

West Brom are anxious to tie down midfielder Claudio Yacob to a long-term contract, with interest gathering pace in the Argentina international.

Albion have secured the 27-year-old's services for next season by activating a one-year option in his current deal to keep him at the Hawthorns.

But Mexican outfit Monterrey and now Italian club Fiorentina hope they can land him for a cut-price fee, by bettering his £35,000-a-week wages.

ASTON VILLA

Villa manager Tim Sherwood will step up his efforts to sign Tottenham Hostpur youngster Alex Pritchard, after losing out on Tom Cleverley.

The Manchester United midfielder is close to joining Everton on a free transfer, despite spending most of the just-gone season on loan at Villa.

Sherwood will now turn his attentions to Pritchard, who was nurtured by the Villa chief when he was on the coaching staff at Spurs.

The 22-year-old wants to play in the Premier League, after progress when he was borrowed by Championship side Brentford last season.

WALSALL

All quiet at the Banks's Stadium today.
