Bully: Wolves should move for Mulumbu

Wolves legend Steve Bull has called on Kenny Jackett to make West Brom midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu a key summer signing.

Mulumbu was surprisingly released by the Baggies after six years, as boss Tony Pulis looks to clear the decks for new signings.

Wolves are looking to strengthen their midfield and fans have identified the need for more physical presence in the middle of the park.

At 28, Mulumbu has played all his senior career with the Baggies, totalling 211 appearances, after being snapped up from Paris St Germain in July 2009 following a loan spell at the Hawthorns.

Mulumbu is bound to attract offers to stay in the top flight, but Bull believes the Congo international would be an excellent addition to Jackett's squad.

The Wolves vice-president and club-record scorer said: "If Wolves want him, they should get him," said the Wolves vice-president and club record scorer.

"I certainly wouldn't dismiss it. We definitely need another midfielder and someone like Mulumbu, who can put his foot in and stamp his authority on the game, is what we need.

"But it will all come down to wages."

Bull famously crossed the Black Country divide in November 1986 with Andy Thompson and the former England striker sees no problem with Mulumbu winning over Wolves fans.

Bull said: "You can play for both clubs – the rivalry is really all in the fans' eyes.

"Look at what Joleon Lescott has done – he joined Albion and has just been voted player of the year there and I'm sure Mulumbu could become one of us."

Meanwhile, Everton are the latest team to be linked with a move for Wolves out of contract winger Bakary Sako.

Albion and Villa have already made the Mali international offers.
