BMW PGA Championships: Robert Rock crashes out

Staffordshire's Robert Rock has been dumped out of the BMW PGA Championships after a disastrous six-over-par second round at Wentworth.

Seemingly on course to make the cut after starting the day on level par, the 38-year-old from Armitage, near Rugeley, effectively sealed his exit on the outward nine holes as he carded five bogeys and a birdie.

More bad news followed on the back nine with further bogeys on holes 11, 12 and 15 before he salvaged a birdie at the last. However, it was too little too late as he missed the cut by five shots.

Rock had gone into the tournament in confident mood telling the Express & Star he would be disappointed if he was not challenging for the title by Sunday.
