Reanne Evans draws Ken Doherty in Crucible qualifier

Reanne Evans has been handed a tough draw against 1997 winner Ken Doherty as she bids to become the first woman to reach the main stages of the World Snooker Championship.

The 29-year-old, from Dudley, is the 10-time ladies' champion and will take on the Dubliner in the first qualifying stage in Sheffield on Thursday.

Evans received an invitation to the qualifying draw from snooker's governing body, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA).

The winner must make it through two more qualifying rounds to reach the main draw, which starts on 18 April.

Walsall's Mark Joyce is also in qualifying and has been drawn against Ian Burns.

Mitchell Mann, who plays for Brandhall Labour in the Staffs & West Midlands League, faces Alfie Burden in his quest to reach the Crucible.
