How's this for a local derby? Married football fans prepare for Villa vs West Brom

They are a couple who agree on most things - but when it comes to football they are poles apart.

As die hard Aston Villa and West Brom fans, James and Louise Gorton knew there would be tension in their household this week.

But after the way the first game of the derby double header between the rivals ended on Tuesday night, it was fair to say Baggies fan Louise was keen to avoid her husband.

Heavily pregnant Louise - who is due to give birth at any moment - said she was in 'disbelief' as Christian Benteke slotted away the last-minute penalty to give the home side victory, while Villa nut James was naturally ecstatic.

"To be fair to him, he didn't rub it in too much," she said.

"We didn't really speak during the match, normally we would be there."

The pair, who got married in December after five years together, usually go to the games separately with like-minded family members or friends, but this time was a little different.

Louise, a season ticket holder in the Birmingham Road end, was being careful not to get too wrapped up in the match as she is due to give birth to their first baby this week.

Tomorrow sees the two sides meeting again in the FA Cup.

While the cup draw has brought their sides together again, the couple, who live in Warwick Road, Oldbury, were not overly pleased about it.

Louise said: "We both didn't want it to happen, I dread playing the Villa.

"It is a cup game as well and has got Wembley riding on it.

"It's about saving face, we're scared of losing and eventually someone will be the loser."

Another thing the pair haven't been able to agree on is whether their child will be making trips to the Hawthorns or Villa Park.

She said: "That is something we are never ever going to agree on. I think we're going to have to pick a team for the baby to support."

But Louise has been trying to convince her husband their baby is already blue and white.

"My argument is I have still been going to games while I was pregnant so the baby has already been," she said.

They are preparing to go through it all over again on Saturday - even if the baby arrives.

"We will find some way of watching it, even if I go into labour," Louise said.

Midwives, you have been warned.
