We are not saying they are true – just that they are out there.

WOLVES

It's coming along slowly, but there's still every chance Wolves striker Kevin Doyle is heading to the United States to sign for Colorado Rapids.

The Republic of Ireland international, 31, is the top target for the Major League Soccer side, who have chosen him ahead of Diego Forlan.

The Uruguay striker, 35, was offered to the club despite having six months left on his contract with Japanese top-flight Cerezo Osaka.

WEST BROM

West Brom may decide to bolster their attacking options outside of the transfer window by bringing in Brazilian free agent Nene.

Both the Baggies and Premier League rivals West Ham are looking into landing the 33-year-old attacker, who is looking for a new club.

The former Paris Saint-Germain forward wants to move to England and has apparently held talks, after being released by Qatari outfit El-Gharafa.

ASTON VILLA

The departed Scott Marshall will not be replaced at Aston Villa by Swindon Town assistant boss Luke Williams on new manager Tim Sherwood's coaching staff.

Williams is on a long-term contract with the League One Robins, where chief Mark Cooper has reportedly been the subject of an approach from Barnsley.

WALSALL

All quiet at the Banks's Stadium today.
