The mini Black Country derby comes to Wolves

Wolves prospect Donovan Wilson will be among the stars of the future going head to head with their West Brom counterparts at Molineux tonight.

And Wilson could help keep his club's Black County rivals off the top of the Barclays Under-21 Premier League Division Two table.

Donovan, 17, joined Kenny Jackett's side on a permanent deal from Bristol Rovers earlier this week.

And he is in the squad for this evening's Black Country Derby clash between Wolves U21s and West Brom U21s (7pm).

The striker's capture was expected to be a formality when the transfer window re-opened, having joined on loan in November.

The Bristol-born teenager has cost Wolves an undisclosed fee, which could rise long-term through appearance-based add-on clauses.

The two clubs played out a tight game at the Hawthorns earlier this season, which the Baggies won 2-1, and a repeat of that result will send the visitors top of the league this evening.

The youngsters currently sit third, but a victory over their local rivals would see them leapfrog Arsenal and Newcastle who both play on Monday night.

Goals from Adil Nabi and Kyle Howkins proved decisive in the reverse fixture between the sides and Baggies Under-21 coach James Shan believes the hosts will be seeking revenge this evening.

He said: "We played Wolves at the very start of the season and we got a good result against them, so I am sure that they will be gunning for us.

"It is obviously a big occasion and big game, whenever you play your local rivals it always adds fuel to the fixture.

"I don't like to talk about results, but with this one I feel it is important to highlight the magnitude of it because if we win we go top of the league."
