Wolves top of the 2014 charts for league wins

Wolves fans who were getting twitchy recently during the club's poor run, might take a second to look over their statistics for 2014.

Kenny Jackett's men stormed to the League One title with 103 points during a sensational return to form and smashed all sorts of records along the way.

And as the Football League produced its stats for the calendar year of 2014, Wolves feature prominently.

They were top of the Football League's table for most points won, collecting 92 from 47 games and finishing six points ahead of Derby County and Preston North End.

During that time they also won more games than anybody in the whole of the league, while finishing joint top in the 'away wins' section.

Wolves claimed 12 victories on the road last year from their 25 games, which put them joint top with Rochdale.

They weren't too shabby at Molineux either as they finished second in the 'most home wins' section, just behind Brentford.

Jackett's men took 22 victories, 49 points and recorded a 74 per cent win ratio.

And, after sitting quite comfortably in the Championship this season following promotion, Jackett is keen to look forward as he reflects on the club's feats in 2014.

"We want to really try in the second half of the season to build on what we've done," he said.

"We're eighth in the league going into the new year.

"We'd have all taken that and it gives us a good base to build on. Now we need to do that. We want our form to keep going.

"It's always good to be able to look forward, it's exciting and better to be able to look forward than to look back. 2014 was a very good year and we want to make more progress now.

"If we can get into the Premier League it would be fantastic and we just need to try to improve from where we are now.

"We want the players to improve, the team to improve, and the club to keep building."
