Unlucky Tommy Rowe is sidelined for three months at Wolves

Wolves have been dealt a blow after Tommy Rowe was ruled out for three months with a fractured foot.

The 26-year-old underwent an operation this week after suffering the injury during a brief substitute appearance in the Boxing Day game at Watford.

Rowe was only on the pitch for three minutes before being forced off and the full extent of the injury has now emerged. The midfielder suffered a stress fracture to the same metatarsal bone in the summer, which delayed the start to his Wolves career following a summer move from Peterborough.

"Tommy had an operation and will be out for around three months," said head coach Kenny Jackett.

"It's amazing that with all the training that he has done, he just struck a ball up the line at Watford within two minutes of going on and picked up the injury.

"It's really frustrating for him and that has been Tommy's season so far. But he has the quality and the personal commitment in abundance and he will come back.

"If it's the end of the season or next season for him he is still going to be a very good Wolves player."

Wolves head of medical Phil Hayward added: "Tommy has fractured his fifth metatarsal and had surgery on Monday. It's a frustrating situation for him having recovered from a stress fracture to this same bone in the summer.

"He'll be working hard to maintain his fitness over the coming months to give himself every chance of quickly getting back into the side once the fracture has healed and being able to play a part in the Championship run-in."

Rowe has made just 14 appearances for Wolves this season.

Jackett meanwhile is hoping Rajiv van La Parra recovers from a mild concussion in time to play tomorrow at Fulham.

The head coach believes the winger has played a key role in Wolves turnaround in form.

"With his pace and his power he has been an asset for us," he said.
