Stearman: Wolves are right back in play-off mix

Richard Stearmam believes Wolves are right back in the play-off mix after their brilliant Christmas double.

Yesterday's 2-1 win over Brentford came hot on the heels of their 1-0 Boxing Day triumph at Watford and means Kenny Jackett's men are just three points outside the top six

After a run of five straight defeats, Wolves have now taken 10 points from the last four games and Stearman admits the play-offs are once more on their minds.

"We have come off the back of a good few wins now and all a sudden we are looking up the league, thinking of the play-offs," said the centre-back.

"Six points in three days over the Christmas period makes it nicer, it is a busy time but everyone is in the same boat.

"It is tough on the legs but I think we have shown we can handle it and come through with two wins.

"It has put us right back in the mix. We have had a good four games now and all of a sudden November is behind us and we are looking up.

"It sums the Championship up. You put a string of results together and you fly back up the league. We are getting back to where we feel we should be."

Victory over the Bees avenged the 4-0 loss Wolves suffered at Griffin Park last month. Nouha Dicko set them on their way to victory with his second in as many games after just seven minutes and a James Tarkowski own goal with 17 minutes remaining seemed to have put the result beyond doubt.

But Kevin McDonald was then sent off for two bookable offences and an unlucky own goal from Danny Batth set up a nervous finale in which Brentford hit the post through Andre Gray.

"In the last ten minutes when we were down to 10 men it was backs against the wall stuff," said Stearman.

"But we are resilient. We came off the back of some suspect performances where we conceded a lot of goals but we look strong again."
