Edwards: I'm sorry for Wolves shocker

Dave Edwards has apologised to fans after admitting Wolves "capitulated" at Brentford.

Kenny Jackett's men slumped to a fourth straight Championship defeat as they were beaten 4-0 at Griffin Park on Saturday in front of a sold-out away following of 1,603.

And midfielder Edwards admits their current form simply isn't good enough.

"We have to make our apologies to the fans," he said.

"For whatever reason at the moment, it's just not good enough."

Wolves fell behind to Alan Judge's first-half opener but were still well in the game until Stuart Dallas doubled the Bees' advantage with 16 minutes to go. Things then got worse when Andre Gray and Jato, in stoppage time, added further goals for the hosts.

Edwards added: "As soon as we conceded the second goal, like against Forest, we just capitulated.

"We can't do that and for that we are sorry to the fans – it's not a good display for them to see.

"Hopefully they know that we are doing all we can inside to try and put things right.

"We will be working our socks off this week to make sure we can turn it around and get some confidence from somewhere going into the Bournemouth game on Saturday."

Edwards believes the players need to stand up and be counted in order to halt a slump which has seen Wolves fall to 12th in the table.

"A lot of the lads here won't have been in this situation before, although the older lads have done," he said.

"It is about trying to keep a cool head because it does become more difficult when you are losing 2-0 or 3-0.

"It's only us on the pitch that can change it and we need to stand up and be counted."
