Bully: Why did Wolves not go for Bent?

I was intrigued to see Villa striker Darren Bent drop into the Championship to sign for Brighton on loan.

I've been saying since the start of the season that we could do with more experience up front and, after signing Danny Graham last week, why didn't we go for Bent?

I don't know the finances of the loan deal with Villa or even if Wolves looked at signing him, but surely for a month he'd be worth it for a few goals?

We just need something to kick-start us again and Bent would certainly have provided a buzz around the place.

At the time of writing this column, I'm aware of the rumours that the Ivan Toney deal is off.

If that's true, I'm as mystified as the next man because surely as an 18-year-old with no record of injury and coming from a League Two club, there aren't any problems with the fee or terms.

So we'll have to see how that pans out before today's 5pm deadline.

If it does come off then it's another youthful signing, but from what I've read about him, he could be a breath of fresh air.

Coming from League Two, he'll know all about the physical side of the game.

Staying on the theme of transfers, I'd also like to see us add another centre- half after the recent goals that have gone in.

I know Kortney hause has been recalled from his loan at Gillingham, but I keep hearing how well Dominic Iorfa is doing in the under-21s.

If he's as good as I'm told then let's get him in the first team.

Ten goals against in three games is a lot so why not give him a chance?

Although I was disappointed with the result against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, I was encouraged by Graham.

He didn't have a lot to go on, but you could see some potential in him and I'm confident he'll get goals given time.

He never got any real chances to score but he worked his socks off and the fans love to see players working hard.

Kenny has talked about having to come up with a 'plan B' and maybe that's to switch to 4-4-2 and play with another striker alongside Danny.

Maybe he'd be better with a partner up there with him and it would be intriguing to see what him and a fit Nouha Dicko could do together.

One striker who looks to be on his way out is Leon Clarke, who seems set to sign for a League One club on loan.

It's a shame it hasn't really worked out for Leon and I'm surprised, but it just never clicked for him back here.
