Jackett: Wolves' flop Bjorn facing final challenge

Bjorn Sigurdarson was today told he's in Wolves' last-chance saloon – with boss Kenny Jackett admitting he hasn't watched him while he's been away.

The £2.4m striker is due back at Molineux following his season-long loan at Norwegian champions Molde, whose league campaign finished 10 days ago with them 11 points clear. Sigurdarson was only a qualified success back in Norway, with an injury-interrupted campaign yielding three goals in 15 games, including six appearances as substitute.

Head coach Jackett admits the future of the 23-year-old, who has 19 months left on his contract, is up in the air.

"He's due back but there has been no talk between the two clubs whether that's going to be a permanent move," said Jackett.

"He got three goals and he's had some good games but also some spells where he's been injured.

"I'm always open-minded, but I didn't feel he did enough last season. I gave him a lot of chances and I didn't think he took them.

"Bjorn was adamant he wanted to go home and felt the football would suit him."

The Molineux gaffer admitted he hasn't seen Sigurdarson, who has scored seven goals in 55 League games for Wolves, in action since he was one of four strikers to leave in January with Leigh Griffiths, Kevin Doyle and Jake Cassidy.

"I haven't watched any of his games but our scouting department and Kevin Thelwell have," said the boss.

"I don't think he's absolutely 'torn it up' there – he's not been fantastic or poor. I think there's been some middle ground with his performances."

"I'll stay open-minded on him definitely because he certainly has the size and athleticism you're always looking for. But a lot will depend on Bjorn's attitude, determination and focus and what he wants to do.

"It's whether he wants to give it another go and says: 'I want a fresh chance'".
