Kenny Jackett: Wolves must learn from this

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett today urged his crestfallen players to fight back after their Derby drubbing.

Saturday's 5-0 defeat left Jackett's side ninth, five points behind new leaders Derby and a point off the play-off zone.

Head coach Jackett admitted Wolves haven't been up to scratch and challenged his players to bounce back after back-to-back defeats for the first time in 11 months.

"We've had a tough week and we've come up short and Ipswich and Derby are two very good yardsticks for us," said the boss.

"Both are very good teams but we have to make sure we learn from it and fight back.

"These two clubs are proper clubs, both established in this league and both going for the Premier League, and they're the standards we need to aspire to.

"Derby were ruthless and showed us what a good side they are, and we need to be at that standard to compete with these clubs.

"It shows where we want to get to and need to get to. We have to learn from it and learn quickly and assess where we need to improve."

Wolves now have another 12 days to lick their wounds before the visit of Nottingham Forest a week on Saturday.

The deadline for the loan window is a week on Thursday but sources suggested there won't be any imminent arrivals.

Social media was rife yesterday with rumours that Wolves were in talks to sign Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle.

But both sources here and in south London played down talk of the club record Eagles signing being on his way out of Selhurst Park.

Meanwhile Jackett said it wasn't worth risking Nouha Dicko – despite having him on the bench at Derby.

The four-goal striker has missed the last three games with tight hamstrings but is due to be part of Mali's squad with Bakary Sako for African Nations Cup qualifying action.
