I want to see Ben back soon, insists Myhill

Albion keeper Boaz Myhill wants Ben Foster fit for Saturday's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace – even though it would cost him his place.

Myhill is hoping close friend Foster shakes off a calf injury in time to reclaim the No.1 jersey against the Eagles at The Hawthorns.

But former Wales international Myhill insists he will be ready to fill in again if Foster fails to recover from the injury that kept him out of Monday's 2-2 draw against Manchester United.

"I'd love to play again," said Myhill, who had not figured in a Premier League game since last December. "That's what I'm here for but everyone at the club will be wanting to get Ben back as quickly as possible.

"It's my job to do it when he can't so maybe I'll get another game. It's been 10 or 11 months since I put my kit on in the league so it was good to get out there.

"Ben got a knock in training and it was worse than we thought it was. He was doing well, and we hope he'll be back as soon as possible, but I'm here to do the job when he can't play.

"I'm no different to everyone else, I want to play as much as I can. I will prepare as if I'm playing."

The Baggies take on Palace, Leicester and Newcastle in their next three Premier League games as well as facing Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup last 16 before the next international break.

And Myhill believes they can take heart from their performance against United, when they twice led.

He said: "Any time you don't get beaten by a club like United is a positive. We're showing signs of improvement week in, week out.

"We were disappointed to lose at Liverpool so a draw on Monday was good. It's a shame we didn't win but such is life.

"We've been playing some good stuff. Roll on the weekend, hopefully we can produce another good performance.

"If we perform as we did on Monday we will have a good chance."
