Jacobs: I've not been good enough so far

Jacobs was a surprise omission from the 18 for Saturday's 1-0 win against Bolton when Liam McAlinden was selected on the bench ahead of him.

The 22-year-old played 90 minutes for the Under-21s in Monday night's 2-1 defeat by Middlesbrough at Molineux when he twice went close to scoring.

And the former Derby midfielder will look to follow the example of James Henry, who has won his place back from Rajiv Van La Parra with several strong performances.

"You have to take your opportunities when you get them and I haven't done that so far," said Jacobs.

"As a squad we've done well and you only have look at people such as James Henry, who has done excellently when he's got his opportunity, so that's what I'm looking to do as well.

"We've got a squad of 20 fighting for places and, on Saturday, the manager decided to go for another striker, which is fair enough.

"I want to prove myself in the Championship because this is a second chance for me in this league and I want to play for Wolves. The boys are doing really well, but if I get my opportunity I'll take it. It's up to me."

Rather than knocking on Jackett's door, Jacobs admits he can have no complaints.

"You always look at yourself – but it's hard to go in and say 'I deserve to play' because the team is playing so well. That's not my way of going about things – I'll just keep working hard in training and keep trying."
