Rowe pushes his claims for Wolves' first team spot

Tommy Rowe is now ready to stake his claim for a Wolves' first team spot, Kenny Jackett insisted today.

Rowe came through 90 minutes in the friendly at Liverpool last Friday to add to the hour he had in the Under-21s at Albion and the cameo against Blackburn in the first-team.

The 25-year-old missed the start of the season after breaking his fifth metatarsal in the friendly at Cheltenham on July 11.

But as Wolves prepare to return to action at Blackpool on Saturday, head coach Jackett says the former Peterborough captain is in his thoughts.

"Tommy is a good player," said the boss.

"You get to the stage where they've had enough games and are ready.

"He's got good versatility, looks fit now and hungry and he'll add quality to us."

Jackett has named an unchanged line-up in all five Championship games but is ready to ring the changes as the side faces three games in eight days.

"I'd hope Tommy's one of a number of players now really working hard to break into a very settled and successful first team so far," said the boss.

"He looks ready, and will be putting pressure on the players in the side.

"Then if he does get the shirt he'll take some shifting."
