Walsall player delivered by taxi to Albion!

A wannabe Walsall player was left with egg on his face – after turning up at Albion's training ground by mistake.

The prospective trialist wanted to visit the Saddlers training ground near Essington but instead arrived in a taxi at the Baggies' base in Walsall Road, Great Barr, yesterday morning.

His error was revealed on Twitter by Baggies goalkeeper Ben Foster.

The England man tweeted: "Ha, some Walsall FC player turned up at our training ground this morning in a taxi, Sorry lad, wrong team!"

Albion staff redirected the player and his wayward driver, though it is thought they later turned up at Walsall's Banks's Stadium.

The Saddlers later tweeted: "The 'Walsall FC player' who went to WBA's training ground today was just a hopeful turning up without an appointment looking for a trial.

"We hope, of course, that the lad in question gets his chance in the game, somewhere..."
