The veteran defender admits he is excited by the latest crop of players to emerge from Saddlers' youth system.

While Dean Smith's team already has a young spine thanks to the presence of Paul Downing, Sam Mantom and Romaine Sawyers, there is a further group of homegrown players ready to emerge.

Reece Flanagan, Kieron Morris and Jake Heath will all be looking to make their mark on the first team in the coming League One campaign.

Chambers believes the Banks's is an ideal place for them to begin their professional careers.

"There are a lot of young players here and the talent," he said. "It will be interesting for the fans to see these players as they progress and come through.

"They are at a good club who have brought through a lot of youngsters in the past few years and it will be interesting to see how these guys develop.

"The older lads are there to see them through and help them fulfil their potential."
